Survivor Series 2023 Was Definitely Something Else
Blog on Survivor Series 2023 Peacock PLE PPV and I Liked It
Survivor Series was definitely had it ups and downs.
Survivor Series was this past Saturday and wasn't that bad of a ppv. The ppv had its ups and downs. The return of Randy Orton was great and so was the return of Punk.
The opening match had a war games match between Biancia Belair, Shotzi, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Vs Damage Control, Kairi Sane, and Asuka. The match was a good match. I didn't care for the trash can spot. I didn't know based on smackdown if Charlotte and Becky would be able to work together. I thought either one might turn on the other. But i was wrong and both Charlotte and Becky were able to work together. The moon sault was cool but a little risky because of high up it was in cage. The hug between Becky and Charlotte felt like two reunited and it felt so good. But in the end Team Becky got the win with the man handle slam. Great to see Becky and Charlotte come together and I guess both might team more down the road. I think with Bayley getting pinned by Becky that she will end up most likely getting kicked out by damage control very soon. I think Bayley will enter the rumble and win it. Then go on to Mania and maybe take the title from Iyo.
The next match was Gunther Vs the Miz for the intercontinental title. The match was okay. But I'm not big on either wrestler. I think miz can be good but is given a lot of cheesy creative. I'm not big on Gunther because other than he can wrestler and has a good chop, he is boring to me. I think if he is going after the title in the next year or two, he needs to find a little bit of character. Maybe give him and Otis a hogan heroes gimmick. I didn't care for the previous segment other than Rtruth is back. Which is great! But the match was not that bad. I thought that miz proved he can hang with Gunther. But in the end Gunther picked up the win with Boston crab submission. I think the guy to beat Gunther should be either Chad Gable or bring Bron Breaker, build him up and maybe he's the one.
The next match between Escobar vs Dragon lee wasn't something I was into and would have put it on the preshow. This felt like a Sunday Night heat like match. The match was okay. I would have rather seen Escobar vs Carlito which would have been better. The match went back and forth. I tried to get into it but not really into Lucha. Escobar picked up the win and that what was best for the story. I think Escobar picked up the spot Andrade would have. But he's not bad as a character and not bad on the microphone. I think in time Escobar will become something to watch. I hear the two LWO members would help Escobar and maybe AOP return and join him. I guess he will see in time.
Rhea Ripley vs Zoey Stark was a good match for what it was. Both went back and forth and at times looked like Zoey might pick up the win and win the women's title for raw. But in the Rhea hit the rip tide on Zoey and got the win. I think I didn't care for Zoey before in teaming with Trish, but she has grown on me, and she is alright. I would think give it time and Zoey might be women's champion. But I think next Zoey and Shayna can team up and win the women's tag title. I think Rhea will stay champion until either Becky or someone like that faces her and she might lose. But she is doing great things and hopefully keeps the title for a while.
Randy Orton and CM Punk Return
This past Saturday was Survivor Series. The main event had Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, and Randy Orton. VS The Judgement Day with new member JD Mcdonagh and Drew McIntyre. The match was good. Damien and Drew Mcintyre butted heads which is what made it interesting on how long until Drew hits him the claymore kick. The Judgement Day team had the upper hand at times and the same with team Cody. But I thought maybe when Rhea came out, Damien was going to cash in. But when you didn't know if he was going to show up. Well guess who? Randy Orton came back. You can definitely say out of nowhere. The crowd was into it. He looked great and it was great to see Randy Orton come back. I liked the finish and Randy looked like he was finally back after being gone for 18 months. Randy hit a great rko on Jd as well several rkos on the other Judgement Day members. After that then Cody hit the crossroads and Damien got pinned. Then Cody got the win. My guess is Damien might be getting kicked out of Judgment Day soon. The show looked like it was over, and the end credits were on. Drew Myintyre was upset and walked to the back. Well, he might not be happy he lost or isn't happy CM Punk is back. I think he wants to be world champion soon. So wwe keeps him from going to aew.
Then a surprise music hit. Well, it was CM Punk. I was folding clothes at the time. Then when I heard it, I was like no way. Then I went to look at the tv, and the crowd was into it. I was like wow, he's back. I'm not the biggest CM Punk fan but I was happy to see him return. The crowd loved that he came back. He got a great reaction. He definitely is like Bret Hart is to Canada, CM Punk is to Chicago. He came out hugged some people. Then the show went off the air. The cameras stayed on him the whole time. But I hate to say it but definitely took away from Randy return and Cody winning a match in war games. A match his father came up with. So, if Punk was going to return at Survivor Series, I think maybe wwe should have waited for Orton to return, and have Orton return the next night at raw, or a little down the road on an episode of Raw.
