Blog On The impacts of Hurricane Helene on my business?
Summary:
In this post, I tell you about dealing with hurricane Helene and the video. The video is during when I lost internet. I did lose internet until Sunday night. It was hard but I did do other things like relax and watch local tv with an antenna. But I was glad when the internet came back on. The hurricane was rough, and never want to deal with this again, but glad it didn't get as bad as it did in like Augusta, or Georgia, and Florida.

My experience with Hurricane Helene
Introduction
In this post, I tell you about dealing with hurricane Helene and the video. The video is during when I lost internet. I did lose internet until Sunday night. It was hard but I did do other things like relax and watch local tv with an antenna. But I was glad when the internet came back on. The hurricane was rough, and never want to deal with this again, but glad it didn't get as bad as it did in like Augusta, or Georgia, and Florida.
Weather Sources?
I have been following the weather weeks up until Thursday night, and until Friday morning. So, I knew by an idea of where this was landing but what actually happened is in the next paragraph. I wasn't expecting what I got which I was expecting more rain and winds but nothing like I got. The weather channels I use are local like news 19. But I follow weathermanplus and hurricane mitch. Mitch is local in South Carolina. I don't know him, but he does a good job. Also, use these guys for future weather events. Another good one is GM Weather who is going to school to be a meteorologist. So definitely look up these channels. You won't be disappointed.
The Impacts? What I Felt?
The night before I was watching YouTube and stuff preparing for the hurricane and a part of me was nervous to see what the hurricane brought in case it turned to South Carolina or came in hard. I have never been in bad weather like this, as in a tornado, or hurricane. I saw it landed in like Jacksonville and Tallahassee. Which I know the rest of Florida got something and feel for you guys and gals. The hurricane was a category 4. The hurricane went north overnight, then hit Atlanta, and Athene. Then turned a part of it turned east and rocked Augusta and the coast with high winds, and stuff. Then a part hit the coast, and then went north into Columbia and Lexington. We did have tropical storm and hurricane warning. Also, tornado warning which I heard did happen in parts of South Carolina and North Carolina when the hurricane went there the following day. But I took a few hours of trying to go to sleep around 1 to 2 o'clock but got like little to sleep. At about 5:30 am I heard rain and winds. Then at 6 am, stronger winds, and rain. I was nervous and scarred. I wasn't alive in Hugo, so this was something I was not wanting. The winds got up to about 65 mph's. Which I know from research the winds were stronger in hurricane Hugo. I was watching stuff on YouTube hoping for no tornado or tornado warning. So, I was listening, and heard heavy rains, winds like a blow I have never heard hitting the roof. As well as a howl like a scary growl. Definitely scary to hear if in the woods. But never got a tornado but got strong winds. Something that made me very worried. This happened to about 7:45, then calmed down a tiny bit. I was like okay, what a rush. Then I went back to sleep for a little while at around 8 am. Then got up and saw, I was like okay, I was very glad to see even though I felt the way I did during the storm, the yard, wasn't as bad as it could be. This is something that I never want to experience again but know it's possible anytime.
Categories?
Category 1: 74-95 mph (Minimal Damage)
Category 2: 96-110 mph (Moderate Damage)
Category 3: 111-129 mph
Category 4: 130-156 mph
Category 5: Over 157 mph
Any Losses?
The only losses I have are none, but I did lose internet for a couple hours. The glass table next door did shatter. The hurricane did flip a few things outside. I did go out later and pick up the few things that fail outside. The only damage I saw outside of the table, was the yard and parts of the roof are covered with straw. But I did have no trees fall, and did not lose electricity. So, I'm grateful for that. I did make some posts and a video talking about what I thought of the hurricane, and that I had no internet so I couldn't ship orders. But this storm did have an impact. Especially with seeing how some cities and towns look which is heartbreaking.
Internet Issues
The internet went out at 6 am on Friday morning during the storm like above. I did get aggravated during the few days, but I did find other things to do, like watch stuff on the antenna, and watch stuff on my phone. I also watched clothes using my sprocket bucket, and dried clothes in the dryer. I did order groceries, and did eat at times. I also picked up the limbs and picked up a few things that fail down in the yard. I did help my mom next door. As well as I raked off my deck. I will do the rest of my yard in the winter into the spring. I just kind of relaxed a lot but did call Spectrum to try to find out some information. I did think about looking at other internet options because of what I was told about Kinect/Windstream offers. But wasn't good enough to get me to switch quite just yet. But then, the internet with Spectrum did come back on at about 7 pm, 8pm, Sunday night. I was so happy; I did a dance. I was so glad to have internet. Then I got on and did a few things online. As far as spectrum goes, I might switch next year to Windstream, but the quality makes it hard to switch. Except the prices does. So, in the end I will say glad to have it back, and I did miss the internet. Even though there was a time before the internet like back in the 2000s. So, I can start shipping orders, so go to shop or categories and order stuff as soon as possible.
Closing Thoughts!
This was something I never thought I would experience but made me appreciate the few things I have like not losing my home, power, and only losing internet which wasn't easy to deal with. But I survived. The hurricane thought me that I appreciate the few things I have even though I'm not rich or a millionaire. I did take a break which got me to be bored at times. But I worked with what I had like above. I did go out in the yard on Saturday and pick up stuff. But this was not easy to take care unlike in some places or locations, and sad to see people die and lose their everything. I will close with this, hopefully I never have to deal with something like this. But with weather anything is possible.
